Due to the Poor Performance of the Public Works Department, the People of a Large Population Are Facing Difficulties and Suffering Due to the Dilapidated Condition of the Ari to Sarhooti RoadAltaf HussainMendhar, May 31, 2025:-Despite the passage of decades and numerous promises made political representatives, the people of the Ari to Sarhooti region in Mendhar Tehsil continue to face immense hardship due to the deplorable condition of the road connecting these two areas. The road, which is a lifeline for thousands of residents in this backward and neglected region, remains in a severely dilapidated state, making daily commute and transportation of essential goods a daunting task.Expressing the anguish of the local populace, youth leader Mohd Isran Khan Janjua has strongly criticized the Public Works Department (PWD) for its gross negligence and poor performance. In his statement to the media, Janjua said that the Ari to Sarhooti road has become a symbol of government apathy, despite repeated appeals and pleas the people to improve the condition of the road with standard construction methods.Janjua pointed out that the residents have time and again raised this pressing issue before the government, the district administration, and various political leaders, demanding the construction of a reliable and all-weather road. However, their pleas have been met with empty promises and no concrete action. "In this era of rapid development and infrastructural expansion, it is unfortunate and shameful that such a crucial road still remains in ruins," Janjua said.He further alleged that political leaders, particularly during election seasons, make lofty declarations about development and infrastructure improvement to secure votes, but conveniently forget their promises once they come to power. The result is that people continue to suffer from lack of access to basic facilities like transportation, healthcare, education, and emergency services—all of which depend heavily on road connectivity."The Ari-Sarhooti road is not just a road; it is the only link that connects several remote villages to the main town. Its current condition is not just a matter of inconvenience—it is a denial of the basic right to mobility, dignity, and development," Janjua asserted.He has made a fervent appeal to the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Javed Ahmed Rana, the district administration of Poonch, and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to urgently intervene in this matter. The drill was held under the close supervision and guidance of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar, Mr. Imran Rasid (JKAS) and Tehsildar Mankote, Mr. Mohd Mahroof (JKAS).The purpose of the drill was to earthquakes, fire breakouts, or other calamities. The simulation was designed to reflect a real-life emergency situation, allowing all stakeholders to assess their roles and ensure prompt action in a crisis.The mock drill began with the sudden sounding of an emergency alert, followed the evacuation of the Tehsil Office premises.
