Founder

Altaf Hussain, the founder and guiding voice behind The Upholder, was born in Mendhar, a border town in District Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. Coming from a region that has witnessed decades of hardship and resilience, Altaf grew up with a deep sense of justice and community service.

He pursued his B.A. LL.B. from the prestigious University of Jammu, where he developed a strong foundation in law, human rights, and public policy. His academic background, coupled with real-world experience in the legal field, shaped him into a dedicated legal professional and passionate social activist.

Over the years, Altaf Hussain has consistently raised his voice for the marginalized, displaced, and conflict-affected communities, especially those living in the remote and often neglected border regions of Jammu & Kashmir. His advocacy spans a wide spectrum ranging from access to justice, education, and healthcare to government accountability and citizen empowerment.

With The Upholder, Altaf Hussain channels his experience, insights, and unwavering commitment into a platform that informs, inspires, and initiates change. He believes in the power of words backed action and in the responsibility of using his voice for those who cannot be heard.
